An IIT graduate assaulted two police officers with a sharp blade outside the Gorakhnath temple in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur last evening, attempting to break inside the shrine while shouting religious chants before being subdued by a mob. According to the UP police, a "terrorist assault" cannot be ruled out. In dramatic footage, Ahmed Murtaza Abbasi is seen wielding a blade and yelling right outside the Gorakhnath temple, the headquarters of the Gorakhnath mutt, of which Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is the head priest. Murtaza continues to lunge at the cops and shopkeepers attempting to apprehend him. A throng is seen hurling rocks towards Murtaza, who is eventually held down.
